First, let us see what we mean by temperature. In general, when you look at the surface of a metal, you can notice that it rises up as you move towards the surface, while the colder you go, the temperature of the metal is going down.In this case, it means that the temperature of the surface is at a constant level, irrespective of where the gaseous molecules are located. As soon as you get near the gaseous molecules, the temperature of the surface drops rapidly, and you can even notice that the surface becomes colder. In these reactions, the molecules are transformed from one form to another form. This transformation process is called conduction. For example, nitrates are converted into nitrites and carbonate are converted into carbonates.
